How to Change and Adjust Link Casio Watch Bands
There is more than one way to adjust or change your watch band. Commonly known in horologist circles (the study of timepieces) as a link clasp adjustment it usually takes a steady hand to make any changes to your watch band.
All you need is a watch screwdriver, pin punch, link pusher, and a small hammer. Replacing a watch band is much easier than replacing the batteries.
Casio watch bands are on the high side in regards to price but in the long run they are more than worth it. They last a long time, in some cases more than 5 years and they are available at most retail outlets. Casio original bands have been known to last up to ten years so replacing one from the same company will be obvious even if they do cost more than the average watch band.
Although you can get a horologist to change your watch band they are traditional watch makers who study timekeeping devices. Most horologists work in the world of making and repairing timepieces. However, if you just can’t fix your watch band then they are the best person to help you out. Use the following steps to make changes to your casio watch bands.
First, decide how much adjustment is needed. Look at the band and figure out if you need to remove a link or if an adjustment is all that’s needed. If you need to remove links then use the ends to remove them and not the middle. This will keep the clasp in a comfortable position on your wrist.
Using the screw driver press on the retention pins to release them. The link will pop right out. Careful with them because they are spring-loaded and can “pop” clear across the room. On Casio watch bands there is an arrow showing the direction on how the pin can be removed. If you have to adjust the clasp, move it one link at a time. More than that will make the job much harder.
Sometimes a Casio styled bracelet link band model will use a friction fit sleeve band. The links are held in buy a sleeve that you push off in order to remove the link. Use the pusher to move them out of place (push in the direction of the arrow) then put push the sleeve back in place after you remove the link.
That’s it! You can now put your watch back on and not worry about it until you need another watch band. All you need to do when replacing a band is to use patience and not get frustrated.
You can get replacement band for your solar, digital, and manually watch that are easy to fix and you won’t have to take them to a horologist just to have a link or two removed. When replacing your watch band you might want to think about using a leather black band or tough resin strap band, especially if you do a lot of sports where your watch get a workout.
