Lion King London is a great musical show which has been running in London for almost two decades. From its success in a small Broadway show, it shot up to fame and has been running in the Lyceum Theatre since 1999.

The show is a spectacular story adaptation from the ever famous Disney’s character ‘The Lion King’. Although the movie has been seen by millions on screen, it is an unfathomable experience when you see the characters come alive on stage with its brilliant acting, stunning costume and the most innovative sets complimented with the most sensational music by Elton John.

Watching the stage grow alive with its characters is a mesmerizing experience as there are 40 actors, dancers and singers who work together in building up the story of Simba the protagonist from the entering of the story as an innocent cub to his growth to the king of the Pride Lands. The story involves a lot of humor from the actors like Timon and Pumbaa, coupled with heartwarming love between Simba and Nala.

The play opens with Rafiki the baboon calling all the animals to the Pride rock as the fantastic song “Circle of Life” begin to play in the background. The theater is created into a mood of enchantment with a parade of animals making a round through the theater vibrant colored birds swooping down from the ceiling, and a percussionist playing African rhythms in the balconies.

“Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” are some of the favorites that are played with a blast of colors and lights flashing up the ceiling of the theater.

The biggest deference that this play makes out compared to other stage plays are that all the characters in the play are animals. The stunning and realistic costumes of the actors make it seem real rather than just humans wearing elaborate costumes.

Big animals like giraffes’ are done by actors walking on stilts and comical yet intimidating hyenas are depicted in life-sized puppets. Even the main characters like the Scar and Mufasa have masks and mechanical headpieces which give them the real like movements of a Lion.

The tickets for the show are available online and in West End ticket box offices. You need to book the show in advance to get yourself some available seats in the theater. The original music play, live time performance on Saturday is worth watching. The show is for two hours with 15 minutes as break in between.

The show has got immense popularity among theater lovers across the globe. People travel to London to watch this show exclusively. The show is worth watching as they bring you live performances which in itself is a great act to watch. Enacting a story with animals as its central characters, it is a great task to perform by humans, and yet this show is one of the most preferred around the world.
