Jungle book DVD is the Digital movie form of Walt Disney’s classic which is an animated movie released in the year after his death. This DVD consists of animated film based on the story of Mowgli, a young boy who lives among wild animals in the jungle.

Jungle Book is a story book written by Rudyard Kipling in the year 1894. It was Bagheera, a panther who rescues Mowgli, then an infant. After which wolfs rear him in the jungle. After ten years of his stay in jungle, a tiger named Shere Khan threatens the human race. Mowli was his target. Bagheera tries to bring Mowgli to a man in the village but his plans were foiled by Kaa, a snake, Baloo, the bear and number of other characters. Mowgli finds his way into the village when he meets Shanti, a village girl. Mowgli falls in love with her. Mowgli dramatically becomes the King of the Jungle.

It was as a Limited Issue, when The Jungle Book was released. It was one among Walt Disney’s Platinum Collection and also became one of the top ten bestselling titles. Jungle Book DVD was very slow in getting upgraded. Finally in October 2007 it was released as two disc set.

The Jungle Book video is not so spectacular. It consists of faded colors and devoid of sharpness. It looks similar to that of a VHS copy. The movie is in 1.33-1 aspect ratio with little artifacts and grains. Photograph of The Jungle Book is wonderfully taken in 2.35-1 anamorphic widescreen technology. This makes the photographs detailed and sharp.

Audio was presented in Dolby Surround and most of the viewers commented that it could have included Dolby Digital 5-1 track. The title songs of the movie are classical hits and a favorite among children all over the world. It consists of Spanish and French language tracks with subtitles in English especially for people with hearing difficulties.

Only extra feature of the DVD is the ‘recommendations’ part. In this part the buyer is recommended to purchase other titles which are also Limited Issues. These Limited Issue collections include Pinocchio, Mulan, The Lion King II- Simba’s Pride, 101 Dalmatians, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid and Hercules.

Jungle Book is the last animated film of Walt Disney himself as a director. He had made it a classic with excellent voiceovers, songs which are memorable and brilliant artwork. Disney’s Jungle Book is a bit short on suspense and excitement but these shortcomings are made up with entertaining characters, animation and musical.

Jungle Book DVD has got an excellent video treatment. You can also get Blu ray edition in the market. This is a great DVD release so far and you can easily recommend it to your friends.
